Kindness to animals

Assalamu alaikum brothers and sisters

Just a reminder that we, as Muslims, should be kind towards Allah’s creations, this includes animals, as well as other human beings, plants etc etc.

Here are some hadith that teach the importance of being kind towards animals:

Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi:- “Those who are kind and considerate to Allah’s creatures, Allah bestows His kindness and affection on them. Show kindness to the creatures on the earth so that Allah may be kind to you.”

Sahih Muslim:- Narrated Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): Allah’s Apostle (s.a.w) said, “a prostitute, passing by a panting dog near a well and seeing that the dog was about to die of thirst, took off her shoe, and tied it with her head-cover. She drew out some water and made it drink. So, Allah forgave her sins because of that.”

Sahih Muslim:- Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that Allah’s Messenger (s.a.w) said: “A woman was tortured and put in Hell because of a cat which she had confined until it died. She did neither allow it to eat or drink as it was confined, nor did she free it so that it might eat the insects of the earth”

Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani: That person is close to Allah (swt) who is kind and affectionate towards the creation

Al-Mujālasah wa Jawāhir al-'Ilm 828; Ahmad ibn Jamil reported: Muhammad ibn al-Nadr, may Allah have mercy on him, said, “The first part of manhood is a cheerful face. The second part is loving kindness to people. The third part is fulfilling the needs of others.”
