Remember the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah

Assalamu alaikum brothers and sisters

The first ten days of Dhul Hijjah are approaching, inshallah.

The first of these days being only 3 days away in the UK, inshallah. The first being on Wednesday 22nd July and the ninth of them being on Thursday 30th July, the Day of Arafat.

Allah (SWT) made an oath by the first 10 Days of Dhul-Hijjah, showing its sacredness, in the following verses:
“By the dawn. And by the ten nights” Surah Al Fajr, Verse 1-2

The first 10 days of Dhul hijjah are of great significance and as much goodness as possible should be sought after on these days, it is also recommended that we fast on these nine days, especially on the 9th day (known as the Day of Arafat) for those Muslims that do not witness Hajj for it will expiate their sins for two years, the previous year and the following year. Alhamdulillah.

These are some of the good deeds we can do during these 10 days. Fasting (not on Eid), performing Sunnah prayers and night prayers, donating money to a charity of our choice, supplicating, putting extra effort into our salahs, reading The Qur’an, learning the Arabic alphabet, learning the names of Allah etc etc. Do things/supplicate in memory of those Muslims that have lost their lives (inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajioon). There are obviously many more good deeds we could do, not even mentioned in this list. Alhamdulillah

May Allah guide us on the straight path (ihdinos sirotol mustaqeem), ameen. May Allah correct our intentions for us and may He accept our efforts from us and make His commands easy for us to follow. Ameen. Ya Allah, do not allow us to leave behind any good deeds. Ameen.

Abu Hafsah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Prophet, salallahu alayi wa salam , said: “Fasting on the Day of 'Arafah absolves the sins for two years: the previous year and the coming year, and fasting on Ashura , (the tenth day of Muharram) atones for the sins of previous years.” Reported by all except Al-Bukhari and At-Tirmidhi

NOTE: We must NOT fast on the 10th Day of Dhul-hijjah as this is the start of our 3-day celebration of Eid ul Adha

In another saying the Prophet’s (s.a.w) wife Hafsah, may Allah be pleased with her , said: “Four things the Messenger of Allâh, s.a.w, never neglected: Observing fast on the day of 'Ashura, 'Arafat, three days every month, and offering fajr sunnah prayers early in the morning.” Muslim

If you can think of any more good deeds not mentioned here already, please feel free to post it in the comments, inshallah it will help our brothers and sisters, including myself, and when that act is done that you have suggested, you and the one doing it will both be rewarded by Allah for that action inshallah. Ameen.
